Types of cholesterol
There are two types of cholesterol. The low density lipoprotein or also called LDL is considered as bad cholesterol. On the other hand, the high density lipoprotein or also called as HDL is considered as good cholesterol. It is important that you know how to lower bad cholesterol because if there is too much concentration of this harmful substance in your body, this might cause some diseases in the cardiovascular system.
Eating High Amounts of Sterols
Sterols are not produced by the body. But rather, these elements can only be found in the membranes of the plants. Ingesting plants containing sterols will significantly reduce the cholesterol level in your body. Sterols are abundant in almost all of the vegetables available in the market. So this means that you will not find it hard to get the sterol requirement of your body. Another good thing in eating plants is that it does not contain any trace of bad cholesterol in it. Though there are some plants which holds percentage of fats but it may not affect you much.
Exercise also plays a vital role in lowering the bad cholesterol in your body. When you are exercising, you are burning the Low Density Lipoprotein. You have to remember that you don’t need to undergo rigorous programs from fitness centers. Simple exercises will already make a difference. Like for example jogging or walking for at least 30 minutes a day, four times a week, will already help you lower your bad cholesterol.
Changing your Lifestyle
Lifestyle modification is also another way of lowering the bad cholesterol in your system. Sometimes instead of finding solution to your problems, the answer is just focusing on the root cause. There are some bad diet habits that might increase the levels of bad cholesterol. Like for example eating too much fatty foods as well as limiting your intake of fruits and vegetables in your diet. These are just simple habits that might predispose you to high levels of bad cholesterol.
Fiber and Omega 3
There are some food components which can gradually decrease the level of bad cholesterol in your system. Like for example fiber and omega 3, these are truly important elements that exist in the foods you eat, helping your body to decrease the bad cholesterol values. Rich sources of fiber are the pineapple fruits or even pineapple juice. On the other hand, fish meat is the best source of Omega 3.
Some doctors prescribe the use of supplements in order to lower cholesterol level in the body. These supplements contain minerals and vitamins needed in order to help lower bad cholesterol. These supplements will also improve your heart functions. But, in using supplements to lower bad cholesterol, you have to make sure you also pair it with a proper diet and lifestyle.
